The Gary Whitelaw Strength in Diversity Award commits $250,000 over ten years in an annually awarded scholarship starting in 2021, and includes consideration for a paid, 12-month internship at BGO following graduation.

This award is offered to an incoming student enrolled in the Master of Real Estate & Infrastructure program at the Schulich School of Business. Applicants are required to submit a short essay (300-500 words) that highlights one present day factor that the applicant believes will impact real estate in the decade ahead and explains why and what the industry can do today to prepare for the future.

This award has been made available annually for a Bachelor of Commerce student in the Real Estate option with outstanding academic achievement. Preference will be given to First Nations, Inuit, and Metis students of Canada.
Project Destined is a leading education platform that has deep experience in training underserved youth. BGO is proud to be sponsoring 4 teams, NYU, Georgetown, Morehouse and Spellman. As part of the program, interns will work 8 hours per week and build a range of technical, financial and leadership skills. The program features training in real estate, digital marketing and provides an opportunity to collaborate with real estate professionals to prepare presentations as part of weekly team based competitions. The program will also feature a "Shark Tank" style finale where intern teams present a digital marketing plan for a live multifamily real estate deal to industry leaders.
